Carpenter’s Curve

A curved brick corner anchors a highly visible intersection in Philadelphia’s Graduate Hospital neighborhood. By introducing the curved façade, pedestrian and vehicular visibility is greatly increased, and the beauty of the masonry cladding is put on full display. The large amount of frontage allows each unit to have a private entrance, and an abundance of natural light. Cast stone frames are used to highlight voids in the exterior and dissolve the brick form for a softer feel against the sidewalk.
